Level 3 Technical Certificate in Childcare & Education (Early Years Educator)

This course gives you the skills and knowledge to work unsupervised in different childcare settings. Our childcare courses provide a real insight into working in this sector. We have a range of visiting speakers, such as nursery managers and early years teachers to share their professional experience with you and help you understand what effective professional behaviour and standards are.

  • Entry Requirements


    We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

    You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other this will include attendance. This is to ensure we can support to be able to achieve well on the course. Applicants with 85% or below attendance will have been deemed not to have met this criteria. All applicants are given an opportunity to discuss any evidence- based mitigating circumstances that may have affected the reference / school report.

    4 x GCSE's at C/4 or above, or a Level 2 Certificate / Extended Certificate or above, at Merit or above, in a relevant subject. Including English and maths GSCE at C/4 or above or Functional skills Level 2 in English and maths.

    A DBS (police) disclosure is required for this course.

  • Progression Next Steps


    After successfully completing this programme you will be able to progress to year 2 on the Level 3 Technical Diploma in Childcare and Education (EYE). Also, you can find a job or progress on to a university-level course at South Thames College or other institution.

  • Course Structure


    There are 365 hours on a work placement in a range of childcare settings. This means two days a week will be in a real-world setting.

  • Assessment Details


    You'll be assessed in your work placement to focus on your practical skills. Also in college you'll be assessed on your course work and you will need to sit an external assessment which is marked by the awarding body.
