Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
Whether you're new to the education sector, already working in teaching or want to move into a school setting, this course will teach you the range of knowledge needed to support a teacher in the classroom.
The course is based on the national occupational standards for supporting teaching and learning in schools.

Entry Requirements
You'll need a reasonable level of literacy and numeracy. You need a paid or voluntary teaching support placement of six hours a week or more for the whole of your course. You'll need to arrange this before you enrol. It can be in a primary, secondary, or special care school but not a nursery. You'll need to arrange with your placement school for your DBS check. We can interview you before you arrange your placement but you must bring proof of your placement to enrolment to get onto the course. -
Course Content
The Level 2 Certificate covers 11 units of work, including: child development; behaviour management; safeguarding - child protection; health and safety; working relationships; supporting learning activities; schools as organisations - learning about school structure and organisation.We also run a series of short NCFE qualifications within the course to help support your development and provide additional evidence of your competence to support in schools.

Course Structure
Students attend college for 3 hours per week throughout the academic year and build portfolios through regular submission of written assignments. Each unit of study requires experience in the classroom, allowing students to apply theory to practice and to discuss placement experiences whilst at college. -
Assessment Details
The course is assessed by a portfolio of evidence. You'll also be visited by an assessor to observe you supporting learning in the workplace.
