We believe that the partnership between College and parents is crucial to student success, and we are committed to ensuring that we do everything we can to maintain a successful and productive relationship between home and College.  You will find below some of the questions we are most frequently asked.  If you would like clarification on any issues which are not covered here, please do not hesitate to contact us, either by telephone, email or in person.

 

Ofsted Report

Ofsted visited the College in January 2013. They graded us as "Good". For a more detailed breakdown of the grade see the full Ofsted Report.

How successful are Kingston College students?

Very! We are one of the top ten university feeders in the South East. Every year more than 600 students go on to universities including Oxford University, Southampton University, Durham University, Royal Holloway University and the Manchester School of Dentistry.

Is Kingston College safe?

We take the safety of our students very seriously. We want them to thrive in a safe and secure environment which is why we have policies and procedures in place to protect their well-being. We have a zero tolerance attitude to the use of illegal drugs. We have an anti-bullying strategy in place which includes zero tolerance of cyberbullying and internet misuse. Is there Disability Support?

What about students with medical conditions and disabilities?

Is extra support for learning available?

Yes. We can help if a student has specific learning difficulties or needs extra help with literacy, numeracy, study skills or requires special consideration for exams. What can a parent/carer expect from Kingston College?

We believe that parents or guardians of under 18 year old students will play a vital role in ensuring student success and we are committed to maintaining a productive and successful relationship with you. To this end we will communicate with you on a regular basis and will always welcome enquiries from you on progress or any other concerns.

You will receive:

  • An invitation to a parents’ induction evening to meet personal tutors.
  • Prompt contact in the event of poor attendance or concerns relating to course progress.
  • An invitation to attend two parents’ evenings in each academic year.

Progress reports twice a year.
In order for us to communicate effectively with you we would require an email address.

What kind of support can students expect?

It’s important to us that students are given the support they need whilst at Kingston College. Our Information, Advice and Guidance/Careers Centre is here to support all our students and help them fulfil their potential.
We have a team of Careers Advisors who can discuss course, career and employment opportunities. We also have a dedicated Student Support Service and our advisors, counsellors and a nurse are available to help students with any difficulties or worries.

What emphasis is there on English and Maths?


Here at Kingston College students will study English and Maths as part of your Study Programme to give them the opportunity to achieve grade C or better.
