A Level Results

A Level Results 17 August, 2017

Once again Kingston College is extremely proud of our A Level students’ achievements. We have significantly increased the volume of students sitting A Levels by over 30% this year and are pleased with their performance with 8 subjects achieving over 90%. Of particular note are our A level Photography results, where 92% of our students achieved either an A or an A*. We are particularly proud of the Photography results as our  A* achievement rate of 76.9% compares to the UK national figure of 12.3%.

Photography tutor Maura Jamieson states: “It was a delight to teach this group of 13 students and these outstanding grades are an accolade to their talent and diligence.”

A Level student Sara Lind Valdimarsdottir (see below) is celebrating this morning as she achieved the grades to progress onto the University of her choice.  Sara Lind achieved A, A, B in Biology, Sociology and Psychology and will be reading Biological Sciences at Royal Holloway next year.

Sara who joined Kingston College having been at secondary school in Malta said: “Kingston College teachers are brilliant, supporting us but also allowing us the freedom to choose study methods that work best for each student.”

Khulat Hashmi joined Kingston College’s GCSE Resit programme, having previously studied in Pakistan. “After receiving excellent GCSE results at Kingston College, I decided to stick with the College for my A Level subjects of Photography, Business Studies and Maths and I am so pleased I did.”

Khulat achieved A*, A, B in her chosen subjects.  ”My teachers genuinely cared about our success and helped me develop my self-study skills. Kingston College is so down to earth, everyone is approachable, realistic and supportive – it’s a great place to study.”.

Khulat is progressing to  Lancaster University to read Accounting and Finance with minor subjects in Economics and Gender Studies.

“During my time at Kingston I completed an internship with Ernst and Young, which opened so many doors for me and solidified the idea of reading Accounting at university.”

In addition to our excellent A level results we are also extremely proud of our  BTEC Level 3 Diploma courses. This year the college has 15 courses where over 75% of our students successfully completed with Distinction certificates in all units. Of particular note is our Business Studies Diploma where nearly 50% of our students achieved Distinction * across all units.   This is the  equivalent of  3 A*s  at A Level.
