Applying for your chosen course
You will find a link to the relevant application method for your chosen course at the bottom of each course page of the website. Please complete all sections of the application form, and make sure you provide us with an email address that you check regularly to help us keep you informed about the progress of your application to study at Kingston College.
Certificates and References
You will need to send us certified copies of qualification certificates you have from the schools/colleges you attended in your country. Originals will need to be seen upon enrolment. You will also need to provide us with a reference from your last school or college, or from your last employer. We are unable to process applications from International Students without all relevant documents i.e. High School Certificates (including transcript of grades), an appropriate English Language Certificate and a character reference.
For Art and Design courses students are required to provide samples of their artwork (four or five pieces) which can either be emailed or sent via electronic medium such as a USB pen or CD. Courses such as Hairdressing, may request that students provide evidence, such as photos, of their work.
Short-term Study Visas are appropriate in the following circumstances:
- those wishing to come to the UK for up to 6 months to study a short course
- people coming for up to 11 months to study an English language course.
Tier 4 General Visas are for full-time degree level courses. These students must provide some further information for visa purposes. Tier 4 visa applicants should note that we only sponsor students who are studying full time courses at Kingston College, based in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. These include the following sites: Kingston Hall Road and Creative Industries Centre. UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) have produced a Video which provides further information regarding Tier 4 visas.
Please note that Tier 4 General students are required to have passed an SELT (Secure English Language Test) from an approved provider.
Occasionally visas are refused by the UK Visas and Immigration Service. The most common reasons for this are:
- The student cannot provide evidence that they can financially support themselves
- The student is not coming to the UK for the main purpose of study
Please note that students requiring a Tier 4 visa may be asked for a 'Credibility Interview' by the Officer processing their visa application to check that the student is genuine and intends to come to the UK only for the purpose of study. Further information will be provided to all Tier 4 prospective students after they have met all the entry requirements for the course.
