On Tuesday 12 December, Kingston College was honoured to welcome Councillor Julie Pickering, Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston to two separate student events.
During the morning the Mayor visited our Kingston Hall Road Centre to deliver a World of Work talk to our IT students, and that same afternoon visited our Creative Industries Centre to take part in interviews by Media students for a live commission for the Love Kingston charity. The Media students have been conducting interviews with Love Kingston Ambassadors and supporters and were required to interview the Mayor as part of this. The interviews will be screened at various events over Love Kingston week in February including the Mayor's Gala Dinner on 9 February and Love Kingston day on 14 February.
Eunil Lee, 90 Credit Diploma in Creative Media Production, commented: "We worked hard to make sure that everything was perfect for the interview – we were quite nervous, but it all went really well and gave us a really good taste of what it will be like in industry."
Media Lecturer Louise Drosdzol said: "I was really impressed with how well the 90 Credit students did. They worked hard in preparation and the resulting interview was conducted in a professional and polished manner. The Mayor was brilliant with the students and gave them encouragement."
Lecturer Employer Engagement, Penn Griffiths said: “ The students really listened well and took on board what our Mayor Julie Pickering said. I am so glad she came to us.“
