Kingston College launched its new Creative Industries Centre in style this week with a 'Red Carpet' event attended by TV Presenter and investigative journalist Donal MacIntyre and the Mayor and Mayoress of Kingston.
Kingston College Principal, Peter Mayhew-Smith said: "The students can now benefit from state-of-the-art industry standard facilities including a TV studio, art and design exhibition space, design studios and multiple music recording rooms. The 'Red Carpet' event is a celebration of the great work our students and staff produce, their commitment to the arts and media in the widest sense. The students have taken ownership of their new building and this end of year event showcases their achievements and the hard work invested throughout the year. The Red Carpet was a hit with everyone; our students, their family and friends and all of the VIPs!"
The Red Carpet event was supported by photography, media and fashion students who spent the evening capturing visitors' red carpet moments, judging their outfits 'fashion police' style and filming interviews, all of which will be shared on digital portals and Facebook and Twitter (you can tag yourself and friends on Facebook!) Donal MacIntyre commented: "This facility is on a par with most broadcasters; anybody who's studying here is a very lucky student indeed!"
Don't worry if you missed the Red Carpet event. The Creative Industries Centre Summer Shows are running until 26 June, Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, as well as a Fashion Show on 17 June and the Media Awards on 18 June. ALL WELCOME!
