Access courses are nationally recognised Level 3 qualifications, validated by the awarding body OCNLR (The Open College Network London Region) and are suitable for those who have been out of full-time education for some time and are aiming to join university or higher education courses. The Access to Higher Education Diploma - Paramedic Science requires a maturity of approach and a high level of commitment. In addition, applicants need a satisfactory reference, successful interview and screening. Applicants must have sufficient time to devote to their studies
Course ContentThe core subjects for Paramedic Science are Paramedic Studies, Health Sciences and study skills. Tutorial support is also embedded into the programme.
Entry RequirementsThis is an alternative route to University or Higher Education for students aged 19+. Candidates are required to have GCSE English Language and Mathematics at a minimum grade C/4. All prospective candidates are requied to attend an initial assessment session. A satisfactory reference is also required.
Please note that it is the responsibility of the student to ensure their current and future qualifiations comply with the entry requirements of any university to which they intend to progress. Experience in a related vocational area will support your application to higher education on completion of the Access Diploma. This course requires a maturity of approach and a high level of commitment.
Duration and DeliveryOne year, part time, two full days a week in College.
ProgressionUpon successful completion of the Access to HE Diploma, students may progress onto a degree in Paramedic Science or other degree course in a related field.
