Access to Higher Education Diploma - Fashion

The Access to HE Diploma - Fashion is designed for adults aged 19+ who are aiming to progress onto undergraduate and higher diploma courses. Day time study is approximately 10 hours delivered over two to three days a week, although this is subject to change each year. It is strongly advisable to have GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade C or above before undertaking an Access Diploma. If you do not have these qualifications, you will be given the opportunity to study them at Kingston College alongside the Access course.

Course Content

This Access course is a practical and theoretical introduction to the varied disciplines of fashion, supported by a range of study skills units. Specialist subject areas include: fashion design, visual research and development, textile design, draping, pattern cutting and garment construction techniques, fashion photography and cultural studies. Practical workshops will enable learners to assemble an effective and personal portfolio to support applications and progression to higher education courses in fashion and textile related subjects.

Entry Requirements

All applicants will be interviewed and will need to provide evidence of an interest in art and design and show their potential to achieve this qualification. It is strongly advisable to have GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade C or above before undertaking an Access Diploma.  If you do not have these qualifications, you will be given the opportunity to study one GCSE or Functional Skill at Kingston College alongside the Access course.  In addition, applicants need a satisfactory reference, successful interview and diagnostic screening.  Applicants must have sufficient time to devote to their studies.

International Entry Requirements:

International applicants should have an IELTS qualification score of 5.5.

Duration and Delivery

One year, part time.

Progression

Learners will be able to progress onto Higher Education Fashion related courses including those offered at Kingston College: Foundation Degree (FdA) Fashion & Textiles.

Tuition Fee (Aged 24+):  £3928

International students:  £8000

24+ Advanced Learning Loans:  If you are aged 24 or over you may qualify for a student loan that will pay for your tuition fees.
