This one year course offers the opportunity to work with a wide variety of art and design materials, techniques, processes and subjects and to gain valuable skills in art and design. Alongside the course you will be able to retake those all-important English and Maths GCSEs. It will help you to identify your personal strengths and your area of interest allowing you to apply to study at Level 2.
Course ContentThis course gives a broad knowledge and understanding of 2D and 3D Art & Design. Students will gain skills in a variety of specialist areas, including 3D Design, Graphic Design, Digital Design, Photography, Fashion and Visual Arts. The course is unit based and assessments are made throughout. There are visits to galleries and museums. The programme includes Mathematics and English at an applicable level.
Entry RequirementsApplicants will need to demonstrate their interest in Art & Design by showing examples of their work during interview. GCSE English at grade E-G/2-1 and a diagnostic test for literacy and numeracy skills.

ProgressionLevel 2 Art and Design or other Level 2 qualifications.
Additional InformationWhilst most materials and equipment are provided, you will be expected to pay for some of your own equipment and materials, much of which is available from the College shop.
There will also be a number of trips and visits which will incur some travel and entry costs.
