The Beauty & Make Up industries are one of the fastest growing industries within the UK with a vast amount of employment opportunities available. An Edexcel HNC in Hair and Beauty Management is a logical step towards a managerial position within the industry and a BA Hons degree.

Beauty Therapy students wishing to obtain a full laser qualification.  There is an opportunity to do this for an additional fee of £800.  This will enable you to practise this treatment.

 

Entry Requirements

Typical offer

Subject/level: BTEC Level 3, Diploma Level 3, CIBTAC Level 3, Level 3 in Media Make-Up or two A-levels at C grade or above.

In addition, applicants should have five GCSEs at grades A*-C to include English and Maths, or an alternative level 2 qualification in Numeracy and Literacy.

Content

Students will study mandatory units which will include:-

  • Management of Health, Safety and Security in the Salon
  • Salon Management
  • Sales Management in the Beauty Sector
  • Quality Management of Client Care in the Beauty Sector
  • Laser & Light Treatments for Skin Rejuvenation (for Level 3 qualified Beauty Therapists only)

And optional units which may include):-

  • Research Project
  • Human Resource Management
  • Work Based Experience
  • Personal & Professional development
  • Public Relations in the Hair & Beauty sector
  • Physiology & Ageing

 Applicants must have access to a suitable salon where they will be supported in a junior management or supervisory role.

Duration

The HNC is a one year full-time course. Lectures will take place two and half days a week (exact days and times of delivery to be confirmed). These however will include day and evening sessions.

Progression

Students may wish to enter employment within the industry.

Additional Information

We are now starting to interview this course for September 2018 start.  The course will provide students with the opportunity to gain entry to university or paid employment within the industry.  The tuition charge for the HNC course for 2018/19 is around £4600.  Students will also need to purchase their own kit and uniform for practical sessions (price dependant on specialism).
