The introduction to the Hair Sector Level 1 programme is designed to build on your interest and passion for the hair, barbering and beauty industry, covering a wide range of skills from styling, make-up and skin care. This qualification is designed for people who want to prepare for further learning or training in the hair, barbering and beauty sector. Students will work on clients in our Headmasters Commercial salon and develop essential skills such as teamwork, communication and customer service to support their progression to the next level and into employment.

Students on this programme will also continue to study English and maths and will complete a period of work experience.

  • Entry Requirements


    We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

    You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

    3 x GCSE's at Grade 2 or above to include Maths and English

    Progression from the Level 1 Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector to the Level 2 Hairdressing, Level 2 Barbering or Level 2 Beauty Therapy.

  • Additional Information


    One year, full time. Attendance in College three or four days a week with work experience in our commercial salon. Next course start date: September. Work experience is an essential part of your learning package.

    Evidence will be shown in portfolios and of evidence. Kit and uniform is required for practical lessons. Further information regarding kit, uniform and other equipment and materials will be given at advice and guidance/interview sessions. Early application is advised as these courses are popular.
