VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Make Up Techniques (16-18 years)

This is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills to an advanced level through a variety of techniques including bridal make-up, hair up styles for special occasions, Individual and strip eyelash extensions and anatomy & physiology.  Also you will gain an understanding of the design techniques and implementation of social media marketing for a business.

Course Content

  • Individual eyelash extensions
  • Cosmetic make-up science
  • False eyelash application
  • Client care and consultation
  • Health and safety in the salon
  • Make-up Demonstrations
  • Hair-up styles for special occasions
  • Social media marketing for a hair or beauty business

Training is delivered in a specialised Make-up studio in the College's Kingston Hall Road centre. Some units are delivered through blended learning packages and online support. Candidates will be expected to work independently producing research material and assignments. Theory assessment will also include written examinations.

Candidates are required to provide their own models for all practical assessments.

Entry Requirements

This Level 3 Diploma is suitable for

  • Applicants must be 16 years of age at enrolment and have 3 GCSE's at grade 4 (C) or above including English or Maths.  A Satisfactory school reference, successful interview and diagnostic screening is required prior to any placement offer.
  • All applicants will need home access to the Internet and satisfactory IT skills

A level 2 Industry qualification  in either Beauty Therapy, Hairdressing and Make Up is preferred.  All applicants will be interviewed to judge their suitability for this programme.

Duration and Delivery

One year, part time programme. Attendance is two days a week at College (including one late night) for 34 weeks - exact days and times to be confirmed.

Some units are delivered through distance learning and online support.

Next course start date September 2018.

Progression

On completion of the Level 3 Diploma, learners may wish to progress onto a higher education courses, such as HNC and HND in Special Effects Make-up or Production Arts.

Alternatively progress into a career in the media and entertainment industry.

Tuition fees: to be advised, please call Student Registry on 020 8268 2888 for the latest fees advice. Funding may be available for applicants aged 19 years. There are also tuition concessions for students who have not previously achieved a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and who are under 24 years of age. This applies to the tuition fee only.
