This Diploma course in business is the equivalent of two A Levels.
Course ContentPractical skills and theoretical understanding of the world of business. You will look in depth at finance, human resources, marketing and e-business. You will have opportunities to devise your own business plan and run your own business activities and events. You will choose a career pathway: enterprise, accounting or law.
During the course you will develop your group work, IT and presentation skills. The units you will study include elements of accounting, marketing, human resource management and website design. You will have a personal tutor who supports and guides you through the course. You will meet with your personal tutor for group meetings and for personal one to one meetings on a regular basis.
The course is currently 100% coursework and you will be assessed in a variety of ways - presentations, role plays and time-limited exercises.
Entry RequirementsFour GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4; GCSEs in English and Mathematics are required, one of which must be achieved at a minimum grade C/4 and the other at a minimum grade D/3; or a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business at Merit level plus GCSEs in English and Mathematics, one of which must be achieved at a minimum grade C4 and the other a minimum grade D/3 (progressing students only) as well as a satisfactory reference from your last school or college.

ProgressionThis course is about preparing you for a career in business, either by progressing straight into employment or the opportunity for university.
Additional InformationWe will give you enrichment opportunities including visits and practical hands on, work-related experiences. Activities include visits and case studies relating to real life businesses; students have previously visited Thorpe Park, London Zoo and Madam Tussauds. Future trips planned include Arsenal Football Stadium and the Coca Cola plant in Edmonton. Guest speakers are invited in to talk to students. The course content is subject to change due to a pending revalidation of the course specification by Pearson Edexcel.
