The course is the equivalent of three A Levels. You will develop practical skills and a theoretical understanding of the world of business. You will look in depth at finance, marketing, human resource management and e-business and will have opportunities to devise your own business plans and run your own business activities and events.
Course ContentYou will develop practical skills and theoretical understanding of the world of business and complete projects investigating topics such as marketing, financial analysis, website design and retail strategies. By the time you have completed the course you will have a good knowledge of the wide world of business and a practical skill set that will prepare you for the next stage in your business career.
During the course you will develop your group work, IT and presentation skills. The units you will study include elements of accounting, marketing, human resource management and website design. You will have a personal tutor who supports and guides you through the course. You will meet with your personal tutor for group meetings and for personal one to one meetings on a regular basis.
This course is currently 100% coursework and you will be assessed in a variety of ways including presentations, role plays and time-limited exercises. We expect you to hand in your written assessments digitally.
Entry RequirementsThe successful completion of a BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma and you will already hold at least four GCSEs at minimum grade C/4 including English and Mathematics, or Level 2 Diploma in Business with Merit grade plus GCSE grade C/4 in English and Mathematics and a satisfactory reference from your last school or college is required.
Duration and Delivery
ProgressionThis course is about preparing you for a career in business by progressing directly into employment or providing the opportunity of going to university.
On average, to enter university you will need a Merit grade profile on the BTEC Extended Diploma in Business. Future careers include accounting, banking, insurance, human resources, marketing and sales. In addition, we will prepare you for starting your own business or perhaps an e-business.
Additional InformationWe will give you enrichment opportunities including visits and practical hands on, work-related experiences. Activities will include visits and case studies relating to real life businesses. Students have previously visited Thorpe Park, London Zoo and Madam Tussauds. Future trips planned include Arsenal Football Club's Emirates Stadium and the Coca Cola plant in Edmonton. Guest speakers are invited in to talk to students about accounting and human resources.
