HND Business


This course is validated by Kingston University and is delivered through a series of core modules which introduce the student to the world of business, the range of functions and employment roles within business and the knowledge and skills required to be successful. Assessment is based on assignment work and examinations. Coursework assessment includes individual and group work, presentations, case studies, essays and report writing. There is a very significant focus on developing business and employability skills that will provide successful students with career enhancing opportunities and the opportunity to proceed to a full Honours Degree.

Course Content

Successful completion of the HND requires accumulation of 240 credits, with a requirement for 120 credits at each of the two levels.

Level 4 (year 1) Modules - all four modules  are core (each worth 30 credits);

  • Business and Study Fundamentals
  • Business Organisations and the Wider Environment
  • Career and Employability Development
  • Essentials of Marketing

Level 5 (year 2) Modules - all four modules  are core (each worth 30 credits);

  • Finance for Management
  • Introduction to Projects and Operations Management
  • International Business and Culture
  • People & Organisations

Entry Requirements

A minimum of 32 UCAS points, including one 6-unit award or equivalent, plus a minimum grade C/4 in GCSE Mathematics and English Language. Applications from international and mature students are welcome.

International Entry Requirements

A minimum of 32 UCAS points, including one 6-unit award or equivalent, a minimum grade C/4 in GCSE Mathematics and English Language. IELTS 6.0 or equivalent English Language Certificate.

Duration and Delivery

Two years, full time. Next course start date: September 2018.


The HND prepares you not only for the world of work, but also for 'top up' conversion Degree programmes. After completion of their HND, students can further their studies by taking the third year of the BA (Hons) in Business, also offered at Kingston College.
