BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Health & Social Care

The Extended Certificate introduces you to Health and Social Care and provides a good basis for progression on to a Level 3 qualification in this area. 

Units studied include: Communication, Individual Rights, Individual Needs, Cultural Diversity and Human Lifespan Development in Health and Social Care.

  • Social Influences on Health and Wellbeing
  • Promoting Health and Wellbeing
  • The Impact of Nutrition on Health and Wellbeing
  • Equality and Diversity in Health and Social Care
  • Individual Rights in Health and Social Care
  • Human Body Systems and Care of Disorders
  • Services in Health and Social Care
  • Creative and Therapeutic Activities in Health and Social Care

 

Study Areas: 

Students must complete all units. All units are assessed, graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded. 

Entry Requirements

Four GCSE's at grade D/3 to include English Language and Mathematics or you will have successfully passed a Level 1 course with Functional skills English and Mathematics.  Selection is by interview with tutors, a satisfactory reference is required and where requested diagnostic screening.

Duration

One year, full-time.

Progression

You can progress on to a Level 3 course in Health and Social Care.  You may also consider further training or study in related fields such as Social Care, an Apprenticeship or employment.
