Level 2 Certificate in Skills for Professions in Health and Social Care


Course Content

The core subjects are vocational health and social care units in employability and learning skills, to enable progress to further study in Health and Social Care and ultimately work in this or other related sectors.

Entry Requirements

Candidates are required to be over 18 years of age and have Four GCSEs at grades D/3, to include English Language and Maths or you will have successfully passed a Level 1 course with Functional skills English and Maths. 

All prospective candidates are required to attend an initial assessment session.  A satisfactory reference must be received. 

This course requires a maturity of approach and a high level of commitment. 

International Entry Requirements

High School Leaving Certificate equivalency at grade D or above, to include Mathematics and English, and other related comparable qualifications. Satisfactory reference must be received.

Duration and Delivery

36 weeks at college; one half day for the L2 Certificate, and up to 1 extra day to study English and/or maths.


Students who successfully achieve the Certificate in Skills for Professions in Health and Social Care course are then eligible to apply for the following Access to HE pathways:  Nursing, Social Work, and Health & Social Care.
