Level 3 Certificate in Bridging Skills for Higher Education



Course Content

The core subjects are study skills preparing for Higher Education study in a health and social care related subjects

Entry Requirements

Candidates are required to have GCSE English Language at grade C/4 or above and Maths at a minimum grade D/3. If you do not have GCSE Maths at grade C/4 you will be given the opportunity to study this subject again alongside your Certificate in Bridging Skills for Higher Education to achieve a C/4.  You are also required to have a L3 in Health and Social Care i.e. Extended Diploma or National Diploma. 

All prospective candidates are required to attend an initial assessment session.  A satisfactory reference must be received. 

Please note that it is the responsibility of the student to ensure their current and future qualifications comply with the entry requirements of any university to which they intend to progress. Experience in a related vocational area will support your application to higher education on completion of this course. This course requires a maturity of approach and a high level of commitment. 

International Entry Requirements

High School Leaving Certificate equivalency at grade C or above, to include Mathematics or Science, or other related comparable qualifications.  IELTS (UKV1) 7.0 or above is required together with a satisfactory reference. A Skype or face-to-face interview will also take place.

Duration and Delivery

18 weeks 1 half day at college; for those studying GCSE maths this will be 1 full day.


Students who successfully achieve the Bridging Skills course are then eligible to apply for a Degree in a relevant subject within the Health Care Sector; for instance Nursing or Foundation Degree in Healthcare Practice.
