Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship for the Children & Young People’s Workforce (Early Years Educator Pathway)

This Apprenticeship pathway develops knowledge and skills relating to the Early Years Educator (i.e. those working with children from birth to 5 years, and gaining knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years, within a setting which provides care and education for children across this age range. It is suitable for those looking to join the Early Years Workforce and those already working in the sector.

 

This Apprenticeship pathway also supports the development of a highly qualified, well skilled workforce within the Early Years sector, and ensures that children and young people accessing services in England gain the best possible care and support.

Course Content

The course is structured around four themes:

  • Health and wellbeing
  • Legislation, frameworks and professional practice
  • Play, development and learning for school rediness
  • Professional development

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have a Level 2 qualification or equivalent, preferably with some early years experience.  Applicants must have achieved GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C/4 or be willing to work towards English, Maths and IT alongside the Apprenticeship framework. Applicants should be within sponsoring employment. Satisfactory reference and a successful interview are required to secure a place.  Good IT skills are also essential.

Duration and Delivery

Up to 2 years to complete the programme with one afternoon/evening per week at College.

 

Progression

On successful completion of this Apprenticeship, learners can apply for a Foundation Degree in Early Years at Kingston College or a foundation degree programme in a relevant study area.

Cost

An employer contribution is required for learners aged 19 or over.
