Level 2 Award in Introduction to Counselling Skills (CPCAB)

This course is intended for candidates who are curious about counselling and who want to find out more, perhaps as a step towards further training or for their own personal development. Successful completion leads to an award by the Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB)


Course Content

The course aims to:

• Provide an introduction to basic counselling skills and the beginnings of an understanding of counselling practice and ethics
• Provide knowledge of some basic underpinning theory of counselling
• Assessment includes an ongoing learning journal, a practical assessment of skills and an external exam (one hour)

Entry Requirements

No formal entry qualifications are required.

Duration and Delivery

Duration of the course is part-time, 10 weeks, with a day time option and an evening option, both taught on a Monday. There are three intakes per academic year. The day-time option is 09.45am - 12.45pm and evening course is 5.30pm-8.30pm.

Successful completion of this course would be useful to anyone considering applying for the Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Counselling. This course would also enable you to enrol onto the NCFE L3 Award in Counselling Skills and Theory (18 week evening course) which runs in September and March, subject to sucessful interview
