Level 2 Award in Understanding Substance Misuse (CPCAB)

Purpose

This course is designed for learners who wish to develop their knowledge and understanding of substance misuse in order to:

  • Raise awareness of substance misuse and its consequences
  • Improve the knowledge, awareness, understanding and effectiveness of those currently working in the field of substance misuse or supporting people involved in substance misuse
  • Work to prevent substance misuse

The course aims too:

  • Enhance the understanding of those already working therapeutically eg counsellors, support workers, key workers
  • Benefit parents and carers by virtue of increased knowledge and awareness
  • Help and support others either in a voluntary or employed capacity.

 

 

Course Content

Course content includes:

Know the effects of a range of drugs, including alcohol

Know the harm associated with different substances and related behaviours

Understand why people misuse drugs/ alcohol

Know the social and economic effects of substance misuse

 

Entry Requirements

No previous training or experience is required to undertake this qualification, however, no offers will be made on this course without applicants attending an interview with the tutor.

 

Duration & Delivery

This is an 8 week course commencing Wednesday 22nd April 2020 (10.00- 16.00) the course will conclude on 17/6/20. 100% attendance is expected.

 

Progression

This Level 2 Award in Understanding Substance Misuse is a stand-alone qualification. However, progression is available on Level 2 (Certificate) Counselling Skills qualification and/or Level 3 Substance Misuse qualification.
