Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Engineering (Conversion to HND)

A BTEC / QCF Level 5 Qualification for Engineering Technicians. This conversion course has three ‘pathways’ - Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic or General Engineering - and delivers the extra modules needed, in addition to those already acquired at HNC (Level 4), to provide the full complement of 16 required by BTEC for their Level 5 HND qualification.

Course Content

 Modules may include:

  • Further Analytical Methods (ie Maths)
  • Health, Safety & Risk Assessment
  • Managing Individuals and Teams

plus

  • Mechanical Pathway: Strength of Materials / Dynamics of Machines
  • Electrical/Electronic Pathway: Electronics / Operational Amplifiers / Data Comms and Networks / Utilisation of Electrical Energy
  • General Engineering Pathway: Electronics / Operational Amplifiers / Strength of Materials / Utilisation of Electrical Energy

Other modules will depend on previous achievement. The award is made upon the achievement of 90 credits from the units studied.

Entry Requirements

Successful completion of a full BTEC HNC (Level 4) Engineering Program with appropriate grades including at least three merit grades, one of which should be mathematics. Relevant training or work experience. Successful interview.

Applications from International students with equivalent qualifications and IELTS 6.0 are welcome.

Duration and Delivery

Part time, one day a week for one year. This has usually been on a Monday.
