[toggle state="close" title="Entry Requirements"]You do not need to have any previous qualifications in health & social care or childcare. You should have a pass at ESOL Entry 3 or equivalent. You will be interviewed before you enrol on the course, and you will have a written assessment to establish your level of language skills.
[toggle state="close" title="Content"]Alongside ESOL: speaking, listening, reading and writing, you will study vocational units that may include:
- Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Health & Social Care
- Level 1 Award in Working with Children
- Level 1 Award in Understanding Safeguarding in a Working Environment
- Level 1 Award in Understanding Safeguarding in Education/Childcare Settings
[/toggle][toggle state="close" title="Duration"]The course runs part-time over 3 terms and requires approximately 7 hours a week of study. The days and times are to be confirmed.
[toggle state="close" title="Progression"]You will be encouraged to develop your own learning plans for the future and you will have the opportunity to get advice from careers advisers and other agencies. When you complete this course, you may wish to go onto further study leading towards Level 2 in Health & Social Care or Childcare, following a successful application and interview.

Assessment is continuous throughout the course and you will build a portfolio of work leading to a range of Level 1 qualifications. You will also work towards Skills for Life English.
