This is the linear 9-1 GCSE qualification. A linear qualification means that students must sit all their exams at the end of the course in June. There are no tiers for this subject, so all students will sit the same exam paper

Students will study the following topics on GCSE English Literature:

  • A Shakespeare play and a post-1914 British play or novel.

  • A 19th-century novel and a poetry collection from the Pearson Poetry Anthology

  • Develop skills to analyse how the language, form, structure and context of texts can create meanings and effects.

The course is assessed by two written exams, each worth 50% of the final marks.
