The GCSE History content comprises the following elements:
One period study –understanding the modern world by looking at either America, or Germany or Russia and the history that occurred during the 19th and 20th century.
One thematic study of an issue in the UK– looking at either public health or power and people or migration and Empire
One wider world depth study looking at conflict and tension
One British depth study – looking in depth at one of the following periods of history: Norman England; Medieval England; Elizabethan England or Restoration England.
The course is assessed by two written exams, each worth 50% of the final marks. The exam questions will be a mixture of multiple choice: structured; closed short answer and open response questions.
Duration and Delivery
The exam board is AQA. The specification is GCSE History 8145.
There are educational visits arranged for you as a part of this course, the main ones are in London and involve the use of public transport
