You'll be taught in our industry-standard working salon and gain practical experience in the following areas:
- Cutting men's hair into a one-length or layered style
- Using clippers
- Styling men's hair
- Selecting and using finishing products to complement your finished style
There is no coursework or exams during this course, but you'll be expected to complete an informal practical assessment at the end of the programme. On successful completion of the course, progression onto the full Level 2 Barbering qualification could be an option.
Duration and Delivery
One evening a week (TBC) 6pm–9pm for 10 weeks (part-time, evening study). Proposed start date is week commencing 19 February 2018, to be taught on Monday evenings.

This course is a great starting point if you want to work as a barber, run your own barbering business or progress onto further training in this area. (Level 2 Barbering.)
There is a fee to cover the cost of a professional hairdressing and styling kit that you will need in order to complete the course, and an optional fee if you want to purchase clippers. As the course is run in our working salon, you'll need to wear smart black clothing (no trainers or jeans) as part of the salon uniform.
