This course aims to provide learners with a range of specialist practical skills and technical knowledge required to gain employment as a stylist within the hairdressing/barbering industry or progress onto further training. Achievement of this qualification demonstrates to an employer that you have the skills and knowledge of health and safety and customer service, as well as practical skills such as advanced cutting and colouring.
This qualification covers a very wide range of skills and knowledge required for employment as a senior stylist. Mandatory and optional units include:
- Monitor and maintain Health & Safety practice in the salon
- Consultation support for colleagues on hair services
- Cut women's hair to create a variety of looks
- Style and dress hair using a variety of techniques
- Bridal Hair
- Colour hair to create a variety of looks
- Promote and sell products and services to clients
- Colour correction (Additional Charge will occur)
Entry RequirementsApplicants must have successfully completed the Level 2 Certificate at mostly merit/distinction level in Hairdressing. ESOL students must have achieved Level 1 Numeracy and Level 2 in English. Good IT skills are essential, as is access to a computer and internet outside of College. Places are also subject to satisfactory references, successful interview and diagnostic screening.
Duration and Delivery September start. One year course with attendance 2-3 days a week at College (this could include evenings), with work experience at a salon one day a week. A minimum of 150 hours must also be gained working in our College Headmasters Academy salon.
ProgressionLearners can progress into employment in a senior stylist role or go onto further training on a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Hair and Beauty Management.
Additional Information Learners will need to purchase their own kit and uniform for practical lessons.
