The qualifications of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) are aimed at those wishing to qualify as a legal practitioner or move towards a career as a solicitor; this qualification is also available at Level 3. Level 6 is assessed by way of external examinations, plus two course modules on Client Care Skills and Legal Research.

Course ContentStudents choose four subjects (one of which must be a practice subject) which can be completed in two years. Students must also complete the two Professional Skills units. These are: Legal Research and Client Care and they are also delivered annually.
The College offers the following subject choices at Level 6 which include:
- Contract Law
- The Law of Tort
- Civil Litigation
- Land Law
- Conveyancing Law
CILEx Level 6 is offered through a flexible learning model with lecture courses, workshops and open learning materials. Level 6 is assessed by way of external examinations, plus two course work modules on Client Care Skills and Legal Research. Entry RequirementsEntry qualifications are dealt with in CILEx publications and any exemptions must be authorised by CILEx in writing before students enrol for the course at this College. For Level 3, students must have four passes in GCSE at grades C or above (one of the four subjects must be English) or, if over 21, entry as a mature student is considered on its own merits. Students over 25 do not have to meet specific requirements but must be authorised by CILEx before enrolling.

Duration and DeliveryLevel 6 is offered through a flexible learning model which includes workshops, lectures and open learning materials.
ProgressionThe course aims are for you to qualify as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, obtain access to the legal industry and/or to progress to the Solicitor's Legal Practice Course and qualify as a solicitor.
Additional InformationStudents also have to be in qualifying employment for a period of three years for them to gain their Fellowship from CILEx. This requirement is, however, not a pre-requisite for admission to the CILEx course at Kingston College.
