This course is designed for music performers and creative technologists who wish to enter the music profession and want to develop a range of skills on a nationally-recognised Level 5 qualification. During the course, learners will develop the skills required to compose and record independently whether in a home studio or in commercial facilites. If you choose to top-up the HND qualification to a full BA (Hons) qualification we have a strong relationship with Bucks New University who will be pleased to offer a third year top-up.

Course ContentThe dedicated professional lecturing team offer industry level training in a wide range of practical and theoretical areas to ensure you are well prepared for progression onto higher education or into the music industry. You will work in our Big Head Studios as part of your studies.
The HND award is made on the total accumulation of 240 credits from the units studied: these units may include:
- Studio Recording & Engineering
- Applied Music Production Techniques
- Project Design, Implementation and Evaluation
- Composing for Film and TV
- Personal and Professional Development
- Sound Creation and Manipulation
- Music Composition Techniques
- Critical Music Listening
Entry RequirementsFor entry to the HND Year 2 candidates will need at least a pass at HNC (Music) with a compatible unit structure, satisfactory reference and successful audition and/or interview.
International Entry RequirementsFor application to HND year 2 candidates will need at least a pass at HNC (Music) with a compatible unit structure, DVD of audition and/or Skype interview accepted from overseas students, High School Leaving Certificate, IELTS 6.0 or equivalent English certificate.
Duration and DeliveryHND (top-up) One year, full time, delivered over daytime and evenings. Next course start date September 2019
ProgressionHND graduates can progress onto Bucks New University (or another provider) for year 3 top up qualification to BA (Hons). The course also prepares graduates for work in the music industry.
