All Performing Arts courses consist of practical sessions, lectures, workshops and performances covering a range of skills and knowledge and consist of core and specialist elements. In addition we also give you the chance to gain additional qualifications, this might mean a re-sit GCSE or an opportunity to study an AS/A2 Level alongside your main qualification.
Year one Performance / Musical Theatre 90 Credit pathway units may include:

- Performance workshop / Performing to an Audience
- Historical Context
Year two Performance / Musical Theatre Extended Diploma pathway units may include:
- Contemporary Dance/ International Dance
- Physical Theatre
- Film and TV Acting
- Rehearsal/ Performing to an Audience
- Classical Acting
- Audition Preparation
We have frequent theatre visits and/or trips (some may be abroad) and we invite professional companies to work with us on a regular basis. There is considerable emphasis on group work and collaboration, so all students are expected to be committed to the group and to the discipline of rehearsal and performance.
For entry on to the first year Performing Arts Course (BTEC L3 90 Credit) four GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, BTEC Level 2 Diploma (Merit), or BTEC L2 Extended Certificate (Merit) plus one GCSE at C/4 or above. Profile must include English or Mathematics GCSE at C/4 or above. Satisfactory reference , interview, audition. Equivalent qulaifiactions will be considered.
For second year entry onto the Performance / Musical Theatre pathway (Extended Diploma) successful completion of a BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in Performing Arts and satisfactory reference.
International Entry Requirements
For entry on to the first year Performing Arts course (BTEC L3 90 Credit) High School Leavers Certificate C grade or above or other related comparable qualifications. Satisfactory reference, audition if student is in the UK, video accepted from students overseas. IELTS 5.0 or equivalent certificate.
For second year entry onto the Performance / Musical Theatre pathway (Extended Diploma) successful completion of a BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma Performing Arts and satisfactory reference. IELTS 5.0 or equivalent certificate.
Duration and Delivery
On satisfactory completion of a 90 Credit qualification you will automatically be transferred to the second year to gain the Extended Diploma on a pathway of your choosing – Acting, Dance, Performance or Musical Theatre.
Some mature students choose to progress onto an HNC, further training or into employment.
Students who complete the Extended Diploma Performance / Musical Theatre can progress to Higher Education; many progress in-house onto our HNC courses or BA (hons) Acting for Stage and Media, while others have won places at specialist Performing Arts institutions, such as Central, Italia Conti, ArtsEds, GSA, Rose Bruford. However, we also expect that many will use this course as a direct step into creative industries employment.
