Advanced Apprenticeship Team Leader

Apprenticeships are flexible and are designed to offer a structured programme of learning to fit around the needs of the individual and employer.

Learning takes place mainly during employment  through the development of ‘on the job’ skills, supported by college tuition which will take place one day a week. Both the 'on and off job' elements of the apprenticeship lead to nationally recognised qualifications.

This apprenticeship is suited to first line management roles providing direction, instructions and guidance to ensure the achievement of goals set.

Key responsibilities are likely to include supporting, managing and developing team members, managing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems and building relationships internally and externally.

Roles and occupations may include; Supervisor, team leader, project officer, shift supervisor or shift manager.

Note that the apprentices will undertake the level 3 Diploma from CMI - Chartered Management Institute - to under pin these skills, knowledge and behaviours which will lead to an additional standalone qualification.

Note that Apprentices without level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to completion of their Apprenticeship.

Entry requirements

Typically five GCSEs at Grade C or above ideally including English and Maths.

Duration and Delivery

Typically this apprenticeship lasts between 12 and 18 months and will require study at Kingston college one day a week (excluding Easter, Christmas and August).

The course will use a mix of on line resources, academic texts and knowledge input from experienced qualified teachers and blended learning.

To achieve final qualification an end point assessment will need to take place to test skills, knowledge and behaviour.
