CIPD Intermediate Certificate in Human Resource Management (CHRM)

The Certificate in Human Resource Management (CHRM) is an intermediate level qualification equivalent to NVQ/SVQ Level 5. On successful completion of CHRM, you will also gain Associate Membership of the CIPD.

 

The Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development have graded all the CIPD courses offered at Kingston College as Grade I Outstanding.

 

Course Content

To achieve the Certificate in HRM, learners need to achieve a minimum of 32 credits  comprising 14 credits from the core units and 18 credits from the specialist units. The units include:

  • Developing Professional Practice
  • Business Issues and the Contexts of Human Resources
  • Using Information in Human Resources
  • Managing the Human Resources Function
  • Employment Law
  • Employee Engagement

Entry Requirements

All applicants will be assessed individually taking into consideration previous experience and qualifications as stated on your CV. All applicants will be expected to have experience of working in an HR role, with more responsibility than administration. Ideally candidates will have completed a CIPD Foundation qualification. IT skills, motivation and commitment are necessary.

Duration and Delivery

The course syllabus is 160 hours, which equates to two evenings study a week for one academic year. However, the College offers a blended learning approach which involves half the time as group study in College and the other half as self study in your own time using the College's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Moodle.

Evening Course - Monday OR Tuesday Evenings from 6.00pm until 8.30pm – February 2018 to February 2019 (evening varies according to tutor availability)

Induction Day - The Induction Day for the Evening course is 28th February 2018 from 9:30.

 

Progression

On successful completion of the Intermediate (Level 5) Certificate in Human Resource Management, learners may progress onto the Diploma in Human Resource Management or the Advanced (Level 7/postgraduate) qualification.

Additional Information

The tuition fee for academic period 2017/18 is £2,000.

Students are required to join the CIPD as a student member. CIPD fees are approximately £130. 

The teaching team consists of CIPD qualified and experienced practitioners, as well as experienced lawyers, all of whom are fully qualified teachers.
