The Level 3 90 Credit/Subsidiary Diploma in Public Services is a one year programme that will give you an insight into the different uniformed services, from fire-fighters, the army and the police to mountain rescue. This qualification will help you understand the importance of team work and effective communication within the Public Services. The natural progression is to the Year 2 Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Public Services
Course ContentThis course provides learners with an excellent grounding in the skills and knowledge needed for a career in uniformed services or progression on to the next level.

- Citizenship, diversity and the public service
- Understanding discipline in the uniformed public service
- Exercise, health & lifestyle
- Skills for land/water based outdoor and adventurous activity
- Instructing physical activity
- Land navigation by maps and compasses
Entry RequirementsFour GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, ideally to include English Language and Mathematics, or successful completion of the Level 2 NCFE Entry Diploma in Uniform Services with GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent). Applicants shoudl also have an excellent reference and a successful interview.
Duration and Delivery
ProgressionMost students progress onto the BTEC Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Public Services (Year 2) and from there into employment or Higher Education. Successful completion of this course will enable you to gain employment in various uniformed and non-uniformed public services including the army, police, fire services and custodial care. Students have also progressed onto further study to become paramedics.
Additional InformationEarly application is advisable as this course is very popular. You will take part in a residential trip as part of this course which will include land and water-based activities and adventurous activities.
