The Foundation Year is made up of four modules each worth 30 credits. Students must complete 120 credits at level 3 to progress onto the first year (Level 4) of their chosen degree course.
Students study Scientific Investigation & Skills and Mathematics for Science; together with:
- Biology and Chemistry for: Biosciences, Forensic Science, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Science Degrees.
- Biology and Sports Science for: Sports Coaching & Analysis, Sports Science and Exercise, Nutrition & Health Degrees.
- Earth Sci & the Environment and either Biology or Chemistry for: Geography, Geology and Environmental Degrees.
Modules are assessed through a combination of summative coursework and examination, supported by formative exercises throughout the year.

64 UCAS Points from at least two A Levels or equivalent Level 3 qualification for example BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (MPP profile) or BTEC Level 3 Diploma (MM profile).
Subjects: Plus GCSE A*/9–C/4 (or equivalent): minimum of five subjects including English Language and Mathematics. Key Skills points not accepted in tariff.
Other entry routes: Alternative qualifications or experience will be considered which are equivalent to the typical offer. Formal qualifications are not essential but offers depend on an interview.
