Aviation Studies covers a wide range of employment opportunities in one of the fastest growing industries in the UK. It includes jobs in cabin crew and ground operations at airports, This type of work can offer exciting careers to those who like meeting people, want more than a routine job and are interested in travel. This one year course is aimed at providing students with the vital skills needed to enter employment within the industry. It is expected, therefore, that all learners will participate in the exciting Springboard Kickstart (work experience) programme.
Course ContentThe course allows learners to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment in the Travel and Tourism sector. This units studied will include:
- Travel and Tourism Sector
- UK as a destination
- Work Experience
Students will also undertake the following:
- GCSE in English or Mathematics
- Level 2 Certificate in Cabin Crew
- NCFE Aviation Ground Operations
You will also have the opportunity to take part in a UK residential studies visit and become involved in employment opportunities with Springboard UK. A one week work placement is mandatory and is expected to take place in April.
Entry RequirementsFour GCSEs passes at grade C/4 (including English Language or Maths) or Level 2 at Merit grade plus Functional Skills Level 2 English or Maths. A satisfactory reference, (to include a good attendance record) is also required.
Duration and Delivery
ProgressionMany learners choose to use their qualifications to go straight into employment and we are fortunate that there are a wide range of local employers in tour operating and airlines. We keep in touch with a large number of our former learners and most are now in exciting, stimulating jobs both in the UK and around the world. All staff members have extensive experience within the industry and use this to guide students into the right career. The main goal of this programme is a 3 week work experience opportunity wth SpringboardKickstart.
