Travel and Tourism covers a wide range of employment opportunities in one of the fastest growing industry in the UK. It includes jobs in airlines and hotels, with tour operators and travel agents or involving tourist attractions, conferences and events, hospitality and entertainment. This qualification has been designed to give learners the skills to work in the travel and tourism sector. Learners will gain those skills by successfully completing the units required. Gaining a qualification in Travel and Tourism at this level can lead to Higher Education which should lead to higher paid jobs.
The course provides you with an excellent grounding in the skills and knowledge needed for a career in Travel & Tourism. You will study a range of different units, three of which are compulsory:

- Customer Service in Travel & Tourism
- Preparing for a career in Travel & Tourism

You will also undertake a minimum of one week work placement and have the opportunity to take part in both a UK and an overseas residential visit.
Entry RequirementsFour GCSEs at grade 4/C, ideally to include Maths and English Language.
Duration and DeliveryThe course is full time. Students will complete either the Level 3 Certificate in Travel & Tourism or the Level 3 Introductory Diploma in Travel & Tourism in year 1, dependant on their GCSE results. In year 2, students then progress onto either the Level 3 Diploma in Travel & Tourism or the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel & Tourism.
ProgressionMany students choose to use their qualifications to go straight into employment and apply for job roles in the travel & tourism, leisure, hospitality, catering or management sector. Others choose to continue their studies at university. This course will equip students with the necessary skills to succeed at Higher Education and they will be able to study at either HNC or HND, or at BA level (depending on their final grade). Furthermore, students can use this course to study an HNC or HND in Travel & Tourism Management at Kingston College.
