Supported Learning

Supported Learning at Kingston College is based at Drapers Court centre next to the main college building in Kingston Hall Road, providing Entry Level courses for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

The provision gives opportunities for these young people to:

• develop skills to progress to further learning

• find employment

• learn to live independently

Course Content

The courses offered are practical, skills-based programmes and are accredited through OCR Entry Level Life and Living Skills.
All learners study English, Maths and ICT as well as one of the following practical areas:

  • Hospitality and Catering
  • Gardening and Plant Care
  • Retail Skills

There are also a number of enrichment options including art, gym, dance and sport.

Work Experience

The provision is enhanced by offering the opportunity for work experience in one of our many social enterprises.

We run two cafes: one within the main college and another at All Saints Church, Kingston.  We also have our own allotment in Tolworth and a retail shop within the college.  By offering practical skills backed up by the opportunity for work experience, our Supported Learning Courses can provide a stepping stone into employment.

Entry Requirements

All courses are for learners aged 16-24. There are no formal entry requirements but you will have an interview to assess which level course to offer you.

All courses run from one to three years with the opportunity to progress through the levels, if appropriate.
