This course is designed for music performers and creative technologists who wish to enter the music profession and want to develop a range of skills on a nationally-recognised Level 4 qualification. During the course, learners will develop the skills required to compose and record independently whether in a home studio or in commercial facilites.

Course ContentThe dedicated professional lecturing team offer industry level training in a wide range of practical and theoretical areas to ensure you are well prepared for progression onto higher education or into the music industry. You will work in our Big Head Studios as part of your studies. The HNC award is made upon the accumulation of 120 credits from the units studied; these units may include:
- Creative research skills.
- Music in Context.
- Computer Music Systems
- Preparation, Process and Production
- Music Technology
- Music Production Analysis
- Music Studio Production
- Live sound for small venues
Students have the opportunity to work in our BigHead Studio complex as part of their study.
Entry Requirements For entry to the HNC Year 1 candidates will need at least 32 UCAS points from A Level and BTEC comparable qualifications, satisfactory reference and successful audition and/or interview.
International Entry Requirements For application to HNC year 1 candidates will need at least 32 UCAS points from A Level and BTEC comparable qualifications, audition or show reel, High School Leaving Certificate, IELTS 6.0 or equivalent English certificate.
Duration and DeliveryHNC one year, full time, Next course start date: September 2019.
ProgressionSuccessful HNC graduates can progress onto the HND in Music or on to university for year 1 or year 2 entry into a degree course.
