South Thames College was delighted to welcome representatives from the Met Police’s Youth Engagement team to the Wandsworth campus last week, where they delivered a presentation to around 260 students as part of a Social Action Project that focuses on Tackling Youth Violence. The officers each spoke personally about the journey that led them to take up a role in the Met Police and why they find their job so rewarding. Students heard about the types of incidents the police respond to and the challenges they face when policing in our community. The officers also spoke about their responses to knife crime and highlighted to students the risks and dangers of carrying a knife. The presentation concluded with a round of Q&As where students had the opportunity to ask the police about the actions they are taking to help tackle youth violence.
