Students from all four STCG Colleges gathered together at Merton College this week for our Annual Student Conference. They included Student Council representatives and Class Reps from curriculum areas, who were welcomed by our Group Principal and CEO Peter Mayhew Smith.

The event featured an inspirational speech from Engagement Specialist & Motivational Speaker Kheron Gilpin, who talked about the journey he had to becoming successful. This was followed by interactive activities where students explored what communities they belong to, what helps with the sense of belonging and what more can be done to provide opportunities for young people at STCG.

It was a great opportunity for these students to meet each other and to interact with the STCG Senior Leadership Team.

Hani, a student studying Health & Social Care at South Thames College, said: "I've been to events before where I've seen Kheron Gilpin speak and he is an amazing motivational speaker. Students are given a whole new perspective on life after hearing one of his speeches and he uses modern examples to relate to us."

Genesis, also studying Health & Social Care at South Thames College, said: "Kheron's talk was very entertaining, he kept our attention and it was interesting for both students and staff."
