Thank you to British Transport Police (BTP) Inspector, Becky Warren, for an interesting and informative talk to our Uniformed Protective Services students about the role of the British Transport Police (BTP).
Inspector Warren discussed her own experiences, and her journey from being a Police Officer and moving through the various ranks to become an Inspector. She highlighted the importance of discipline, teamwork, leadership and determination as being very important qualities when working in the British Transport Police. There are a staggering 360 fatalities each year on the UK railways and the importance of Fatality Management was also addressed.
Students were very interested in learning about the exciting career opportunities and the different Specialist Teams within the British Transport Police. Inspector Warren encouraged the students to become volunteers in the British Transport Police.
Tutor, Ciaran Fox, commented: “The students asked lots of questions and are very interested in this career pathway. I will now be arranging for some of our Public/Protective Services students to take part in the Police Patrol Observation Scheme offered by the British Transport Police. The scheme enables some of our students to work a shift with the BTP and experience a day in the life of a British Transport Police Officer.”
