Meet one of our fantastic Public/Protective Services students, Nadine Gentle who is in the first year of her two year BTEC Extended Diploma.

Nadine says: “I am really enjoying my time at Kingston College, having recently started the BTEC Level 3 Public/Protective Services course. Since starting we have had talks from the Metropolitan Police, London Fire Brigade Borough Commander, British Transport Police and the opportunity to meet Border Force UK and the Royal Air Force. The talks were very informative and gave a good insight into those careers, while explaining how their roles interact with each other, highlighting the importance of good teamwork.

“At the beginning of the course we went to Bushy Park to test out our map reading skills, which was a good opportunity to get to know people on the course better, as we were working in teams. The tutors were all welcoming and really want to help you progress to your future career. I am looking forward to doing a work placement with the Metropolitan Police which will give me first-hand experience of what it is like to work in the police force. The College is well located for all transport links, in the heart of Kingston, close to the riverside and shops, so it’s great at break times.”

Tutor Ciaran Fox said: “Both Nadine and Anullah are very good friends and attend the Police Cadets sessions each week. They are both excellent students and are real role models for all future Protective Services students at Kingston College. They both work very hard to achieve their goals and are very interested and enthusiastic about their future careers in the Protective Services.”
