On 4 February the Met Police Safer Neighbourhood Team came to speak with our Level 3 and Level 2 Protective Services students. The Safer Neighbourhood Team was led by Acting Police Sergeant Matt Cefai and six of his colleagues.

The aim of the session was for the students to give their opinions about safety / crime related issues in Kingston. The Police wanted the students to share their proactive ideas about how they could improve safety in Kingston. Each Police Officer sat with a group of six students who were given a map of Kingston, the students then highlighted locations and areas where they felt unsafe and made suggestions about how Kingston could be made a safer place.

Acting Sergeant Matt Cefai and his team were really impressed with the students' input and contribution, their opinions and suggestions will now be incorporated into their Safer Neighbourhood plans.

Tutor, Ciaran Fox, commented: “This was an excellent session as it was very interactive and worthwhile. All the students thoroughly enjoyed being so involved in helping the police in making a difference.”
